Fossa
Fossas are the largest mammalian carnivores on the island of Madagascar, but have been on the endangered list since 2000. It is estimated that less than 2,500 fossas remain in the wild.
Please Note:
There are some exciting changes in store at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo! As we prepare for improvements to the main entrance and parking lot, we ask for your patience when visiting.
The main entrance to the zoo is currently inaccessible. As such, we ask that you follow the signs, which will lead you to a fenced walkway through the staff parking lot to the side entrance of the main building. The entrance and walkway will remain accessible for all. Once inside, you will be able to enjoy the zoo as you usually do.
This project, which is expected to last approximately six months, will transform the front of the zoo with many exciting changes. We will be sure to update you as those changes occur. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
Winter Weather Policy
All education programs, including Edventure Academy, camps, and overnights, will run as scheduled unless the zoo has been closed by order of Onondaga County administration. Sorry, but no refunds or rain checks will be given for 'no-shows' for any reason.
Edventure Academy
Edventure Academy provides a unique opportunity for you and your child to learn more about the animals at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo! Each session is specifically designed for the age group indicated and includes a craft, snack, biofact (skulls, fur, feathers, etc.) presentation, a zoo tour, and may include an animal encounter or keeper talk.
A parent or guardian is required to attend preschool sessions with their child; parents are optional for 6-9 year old sessions. Class size is limited to ensure that your child has the most educational and fun experience we can offer! Please help us by leaving toddlers and infants at home. Pre-registration is required for all sessions; a minimum number of registrants is required to run all Edventure Academy programming.
Fees:
- Members: $15 per child/adult pair per session
- Non-members: $20 per child/adult pair per session
- $9 for each additional child (member or non) in the same session

Raptor's Delight!

Sharpen your beaks, flex your talons, and join us for this high flyin' class as we learn all about the birds of prey that call our zoo home! We'll tour the zoo, make a raptor-riffic craft, and meet some amazing birds up close and personal-you won't want to miss it!

Wolf Pack!

If you love wolves, you're in luck! Join us as we learn all about our resident red and grey wolves! We'll visit the wolves on exhibit, bring them some enrichment treats, and make a howlin' good craft! This class is any lupine lover's dream come true!

Under the Sea!

Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen issue with the company that is constructing the octopus tank, the octopus exhibit will not be completed until the end of June or beginning of July. This means that we will not have an octopus in her exhibit for the June octopus class. We will reschedule the octopus class to September 6 and 7. In the meantime, please enjoy a class about our beautiful aquariums!
From freshwater to saltwater, from tropical fish to potato chip coral, the Zoo has it all! Come explore the many animals that live under water in this swimmingly fun class!

Consent and Waiver Policy
Every participant under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian on the premises during the education program must have a signed consent and waiver form on file with the education department. This form will be kept on file for one (1) year, so you only need to fill it out once. If your child's medical history, including food allergy or activity restrictions changes, please notify the education department to update your file at 435-8511 ext. 205. Cancellation Policy
If your child is enrolled and you must cancel for any reason, your registration fee is nonrefundable unless a child on the wait list can fill the space. If there is no wait list for the session indicated, we cannot issue a refund. In the event the cancelled slot is filled, a 25% processing fee will be deducted from your refund.
