Though their names are similar, the red panda and giant panda are only very distantly related by a common ancestor that can be traced back to tens of millions of years ago. Both species were identified as pandas as the word “panda” means “bamboo eater,” and bamboo is a primary part of both the red panda’s and the giant panda’s diet.

What does my membership include?

  • Unlimited admission to the zoo for a full year
  • Subscription to MyZoo Magazine, our quarterly zoo publication

What do I bring when I come to the Zoo?

Please bring your valid member card and ID for the fastest service.  If you forget your member card please stop at the Membership Desk with your ID and we will issue a day pass.

At what age do I need to add my children/grandchildren to my membership?

At age three your children/grandchildren need to be included on your membership. Children two and under are admitted to the zoo free of charge.

How long can I include my children/grandchildren on my membership?

Children/grandchildren may be on your membership until the age of 18. 

Who can use my card?

Only the adult(s) named on the cards may use the card for admission. If your child is coming without you, please call ahead of time or stop at the membership desk for a child only pass.

What if my membership includes guests?

Guests must always accompany an adult named on the membership.

How will I know when to renew?

We will send a renewal notice for your convenience through the mail, and by e-mail if we have a valid e-mail address on file.

Can I use my membership at other zoos?

Yes. You will receive discounted admission at the institutions listed on your reciprocal list. Check our website rosamondgiffordzoo.org for an up-to-date list. If you have any questions regarding admission to another facility, please contact them directly. 

What if I lose my card?

We offer reprints for $1.00 at our Membership Desk.

Are membership fees refundable or transferable?

Memberships are not refundable or transferable.

Is my membership tax deductable?

Yes.  Your membership is fully tax deductible for Basic Level memberships. The Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo is a 501 (c)(3) organization.

Can I purchase a membership as a gift for someone?

Yes.  You can purchase a gift by phone, mail, online or at our membership desk. For details please visit our website at rosamondgiffordzoo.org/members or call us at 315-435-8511 ext 129.

Can I purchase extra t-shirts?

Yes.  Members can purchase additional t-shirts for just $8.00 at the membership desk.

Adopt an Animal Frequently Asked Questions


What is the Adopt an Animal program?

The Adopt an Animal program is an opportunity to support our zoo animals. We offer several different levels of support starting at just $40.00. All of our animals at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo are available for adoption.

What does the Adopt an Animal package include?

  • Name on Zoo Parent Honor Roll for one year
  • Personalized Adopt certificate
  • Fact Sheet about your animal
  • 4x6 color photo of your animal
  • Invitation to the Member Appreciation Event

Who can participate in the program?

Anyone is welcome to participate.  Children, adults and groups can adopt an animal.  It also makes a great gift for an animal lover or the person who has everything.

Do I have to pick up my Adopt Package?

We offer shipping for $8.50, or you can pick up your package at the membership desk.  If you need it by a certain date be sure to let us know.
