Spectacled Bear

The spectacled bear gets its name from the distinctive rings of white or beige fur around its eyes. These markings stand out against the rest of the bear, which is usually black or dark brown, and look like eyeglasses (or spectacles).

2017 Winter Photo Contest Grand Prize

12th Annual Photo Contest:
January 2-31, 2017

Each January, the zoo invites photographers of all abilities, ages 5 and up, to take part in a photo contest. Winning photos appear in the spring issue of our member publicationMyZoo Magazine, on the zoo's website and social media, and are displayed to the public for one year in the zoo's gift shop windows.
