Tamarin groups actively defend a territory against other golden lion tamarins. They use vocalizations and scent marking during ritualized group encounters for defense so actual fighting does not occur.

Please Note:
There are some exciting changes in store at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo! As we prepare for improvements to the main entrance and parking lot, we ask for your patience when visiting.
The main entrance to the zoo is currently inaccessible. As such, we ask that you follow the signs, which will lead you to a fenced walkway through the staff parking lot to the side entrance of the main building. The entrance and walkway will remain accessible for all. Once inside, you will be able to enjoy the zoo as you usually do.
This project, which is expected to last approximately six months, will transform the front of the zoo with many exciting changes. We will be sure to update you as those changes occur. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
All education programs, including Edventure Academy, camps, and overnights, will run as scheduled unless the zoo has been closed by order of Onondaga County administration. Sorry, but no refunds or rain checks will be given for 'no-shows' for any reason.

If you prefer to pay by check via mail, please download the registration form here and mail it to the address listed on the form.
A minimum number of participants is required to run all programs. Pre-registration and payment at time of registration is required. Spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis. For questions, call 435.8511 ext. 205 or e-mail Lschmidt@rosamondgiffordzoo.org
We strongly encourage you to register online. Registrations mailed in will be filled in the order in which they are received.
A separate form is required for each individual child. If you have children who wish to attend the same session these registrations must be mailed in the same envelope or we cannot assure that they will be placed in the same session.
If the session you want is filled, please e-mail LSchmidt@rosamondgiffordzoo.org to be placed on a wait list. All registrations received after camp sessions are full will be held on a wait list. If payment has been made with a personal check/money order, it will be returned to you after the date of the camp has passed. If space becomes available, you will be contacted immediately. Spaces that open will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Reservations are required for all programs. There is limited space in each program so please register early. A minimum number of registrants is required to run each program. We reserve the right to cancel a program if the minimum number of registrants is not met. If the zoo cancels the camp session due to lack of enrollment or severe weather, a full refund or program credit will be given.
If your child is enrolled and you must cancel for any reason, your registration fee is nonrefundable unless a child on the wait list can fill the space. If there is no wait list for the session indicated, we cannot issue a refund. In the event the cancelled slot is filled, a 25% processing fee will be deducted from your refund.
Every participant under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian on the premises during the education program must have a signed consent and waiver form on file with the Education Department. This form will be kept on file for one (1) year, so you only need to fill it out once. If your child's medical history, including food allergy or activity restrictions changes, please notify the Education Department to update your file at 435-8511 ext. 205. To download the Education Program Consent and Waiver form, please click here.
All education programs, including Edventure Academy, camps, and overnights will run as scheduled unless the zoo has been closed by order of Onondaga County administration. Sorry, but no refunds or rain checks will be given for "no shows" for any reason.
