Radiated Tortoise

Radiated Tortoise

The radiated tortoise’s shell has a pattern of yellow lines “radiating” from the center of the dark plate of the shell, hence the name. The shell also contains blood vessels and nerves, so a tortoise can actually feel when it is touched.

Camp Registration and FAQs

For Winter and Spring Break Camps only, registrations may be mailed or faxed to (315) 435-8517.  Registrations will be filled in the order in which they are received.

A separate form is required for each individual child. If you have children who wish to attend the same session these registrations must be mailed in the same envelope or we cannot assure that they will be placed in the same session.

All registrations received after camp sessions are full will be held on a wait list. If payment has been made with a personal check/money order, it will be returned to you after the date of the camp has passed. If space becomes available, you will be contacted immediately. Spaces that open will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

If your child is enrolled and you must cancel for any reason, your registration fee is nonrefundable unless a child on the waiting list can fill the space. In the event the cancelled slot is filled, a 25% processing fee will be deducted from your refund.

We are happy to accommodate children with special needs. Please contact the Zoo office prior to the start of the session to discuss the accommodations needed.

Reservations are required for all programs. There is limited space in each program so please register early.  A minimum number of registrants is required to run each program.  We reserve the right to cancel a program if the minimum number of registrants is not met. If the Zoo cancels the camp session due to lack of enrollment or severe weather, a full refund or program credit will be given.

Consent and Waiver Policy

Every participant under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian on the premises during the education program must have a signed consent and waiver form on file with the Education Department. This form will be kept on file for one (1) year, so you only need to fill it out once. If your child's medical history, including food allergy or activity restrictions changes, please notify the Education Department to update your file at 435-8511 ext. 205. To download the Education Program Consent and Waiver form, please click here.

Severe Weather Policy

All education programs, including EdZOOcation, camps, and overnights will run as scheduled unless the Zoo has been closed by order of Onondaga County administration. Sorry, but no refunds or rain checks will be given for "no shows" for any reason.

For questions about any camp or to check avaliability , contact Liz Schmidt at (315) 435-8511 x205.
