The milk snake’s name originates from the incorrect belief that they drank milk from the udders of cows because they were often seen in barns and stables. In reality, they were hunting rodents, commonly found in those structures.

Have you caught some amazing animal action on a recent visit to the zoo? 

We are inviting Rosamond Gifford Zoo lovers to submit their videos capturing creatures (up to two minutes) to be featured on the Videos portion of the website for all visitors to see! 

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Create your video
  2. Upload your video to YouTube (you will have to create a YouTube account if you don't have one
  3. Copy the URL (web address) of your YouTube video
  4. Send an email to info@rosamondgiffordzoo.org.  Be sure to put "Video" in the subject line.

Instructions for Video Submission by email:

  • Paste the URL (web address) of your YouTube video into the email
  • Include the title of your video
  • Include your name and address 

Please remember:

  • Only submit videos that you took yourself.  We will not post otherwise.
  • Videos are subject to approval for content and language.
  • Video postings are subject to the Terms of Use of the hosting site YouTube.

I don't know what YouTube is or how it works.

YouTube is a video sharing website that allows users to upload and share video clips, free of charge.  All you need is a valid email address to sign up.  For help uploading your video, visit the YouTube help page

Why hasn't the Zoo accepted the link I submitted?

Your video must first be uploaded to your YouTube account.  Submitted videos are subject to approval. 

I posted a video, but it's not on the website yet.

Once your video has been submitted and approved, we will do our best to post it in a timely manner.  Check back each week to see what's new!
