Fossas are the largest mammalian carnivores on the island of Madagascar, but have been on the endangered list since 2000. It is estimated that less than 2,500 fossas remain in the wild.
Have you ever wondered what life would be like as a wolf? Try the free, interactive computer game, WolfQuest, and see for yourself! Players take on the role of a gray wolf living in Yellowstone National Park and hunt prey, interact with other animals including grizzly bears and seek a wolf mate.
WolfQuest can be downloaded for FREE from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s WolfQuest site—click on the button below to check it out! Once the game is downloaded, players can choose either a single player game or an online multiplayer version in which they interact with other players to experience life in a wolf pack.
At the WolfQuest website, you can also participate in the online WolfQuest Community Forum. Here you can share your love of wolves, and learn more about these amazing animals from experts in the field.
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo joins a national network of zoos and science education centers supporting WolfQuest. This project was initiated by the Minnesota Zoo and partners include the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota and the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
Later this year, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be offering educational programming for youth interested in wolves. Stay tuned for more information!
