Position Summary:  Responsible for the physical setting up and breaking down of the function room equipment, tables and chairs.  Vacuums, sweeps, mops, clean restrooms and glass doors prior to and during scheduled events. part-time, as needed, non-exempt position; Employment pending criminal and drivers history records; Promotes the Zoo and its mission.

Reports to:           Executive Chef

                             Event Manager

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains cleanliness of banquet rooms, hallways, storage room, and service areas.
  • Responsible for setting up, maintaining and breaking down banquet rooms.
  • Wash dishes, pans, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Maintains cleanliness of restrooms, entrance doors and lobby areas during special events.
  • Disposes of refuse in proper location.
  • Assists other banquet staff as needed during events.
  • Responds quickly to requests from guests or management in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Basic English language skills (written and verbal)
  • Candidates must be able to read and understand a Banquet Event Order (BEO)
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Employment pending criminal history record

Skills / Experience Required:

  • Able to lift heavy items up to 100 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule to work on an on-call/as-needed basis for special events for mornings/evenings, including weekend and holiday availability.

Part-time - $19/hour

Position Description: The primary duty of the Sous Chef is to assist the Executive Chef in overseeing and directing the menu preparation and execution for Catering at the Zoo events and Café/Concessions kitchen operations. Must lead by example and guide the team in a professional demeanor.  

Responsible to:                   Executive Chef   

Oversees:                             Kitchen Utility and prep staff


Essential Job Functions:

  • Functions as the co-lead for the preparation and execution of the banquet event order
  • Ability to execute recipes, supervise and train, adjusting as necessary
  • Maintain and follow all food handling guidelines in accordance with Department of Health regulations; ensures that others do the same
  • Maintains sanitary conditions of equipment and work area in line with Department of Health regulations
  • Evaluate food before serving to ensure quality of taste, consistency and visual presentation
  • Fulfill line level kitchen duties during off-season periods, and step in when needed
  • Oversee kitchen utility and prep staff in tasks and direction
  • Manage, as needed, closing duties including end of day kitchen inspection
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Adheres to Zoo policies and protocols


Desired Training/Experience:

  • Culinary degree/certification or 2-3 years of directly related experience,
  • Mastery of cooking terminology and ingredients
  • Understanding of Health and Safety standards/laws

Position Description:  Manages the Membership Desk and attends to all assigned Membership and Front-End duties; Part-time, non-exempt position; Employment pending criminal and driver history records; Promotes the Zoo and its mission.

Reports to:   Membership Manager

Job Duties:

  • Manages Membership Desk.
  • Provides quality customer service.
  • Maintains Membership database and provides support for Membership programs.
  • Distributes information re: Membership and Adopt an Animal Program.
  • Accepts cash, checks and credit card payments for Membership applications; Accepts payments for and organizes stroller rental process. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Maintains Membership Desk supplies, which includes office supplies and all corresponding paperwork pertaining to the Membership application process.
  • Assist with membership admission check-in
  • Operates cash register stations at Members Desk as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attends departmental meetings / trainings, as requested.
  • Adheres to Zoo policies and procedures.

Desired Training and Experience:

  • Must be proficient in computer data entry and management, including Raiser’s Edge.
  • Comfortable and dependable with assigned financial responsibilities.
  • Proficient in word processing programs.
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills required.
