Join the Rosamond Gifford Zoo education team for programs tailored just for your age group. These programs are perfect for home-schooled children or anyone wild about learning!

Ages 1-5

Ages 1-5 | Saturdays 9:45am-10:45am & 2:00-2:45pm

Get ready for an exciting journey through the zoo designed just for our youngest adventurers! Join us for Stroller Safari, where kids aged 5 and under, along with their adult companions, will embark on a fun-filled exploration of the animal kingdom. Together, we’ll stroll through the zoo, discovering amazing animals, engaging in interactive activities, and enjoying captivating stories about wildlife. Each stop on our safari is packed with sights and sounds that will spark curiosity and wonder!

Ages 1-3 | 9:15-10 a.m. | 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Join the education team for a three-week program tailored just for the little ones, ages 12 to 36 months. Each themed class includes animal biofacts, nature-themed sensory play, a story and hands on learning! Young ones will explore with their senses as they develop language and motor skills in this early learning adventure. This program is for one child/one caregiver pair. ** Live animals will not be used in this program, but class fee includes admission to enjoy the animals in the zoo on your own after class.

Ages 6-12

Ages 6-12 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Join us for a dive deep into the incredible world of animals for a full day of Zoo Camp! Each camp day is different, allowing your child to explore something new about the animal world through hands-on science, artistry, technology, and engineering projects, STEAM activities- whether they’re registered for just one, or multiple, days! For your convenience you can preorder lunch from The Honey Bee Café during registration.

Looking for a night out? Drop your kids off at the zoo to party like an animal! Kids will enjoy pizza upon arrival, learn about animals, tour the zoo after hours, make crafts and play games all night long.

All Ages

10 a.m. - Noon

A learning adventure for the whole family! Experiences may include a STEAM challenge, fun games and activities, an elevated zoo experience, animal demo, and so much more. To finish, we will use the knowledge we gain to battle other families in a fun competitive game. This is a great way to have fun with your family and experience Zoo Camp in a whole new way.

Did you know bird watching and taking pictures of plants can impact the world around you? Be the change in your community by bringing your passion for nature to Community Conservation with the Zoo! Learn about what scientists are doing to help plants and animals, and be a part of the solution. From bird identification to native plant gardening, you will learn skills and work alongside peers to participate in real conservation projects. Collect data to contribute to current scientific research, get involved with local organizations, and find your own passion for nature.  

This program is free of charge, and open to the whole family, but you must register so that we know to expect you.

Adult Programs

Looking for a deep dive on all things zoo related? Fulfill your curiosities and discover new questions with our adult learning series. Join our education staff for this classroom-based lecture and discussion-based program to learn more about our animals and their stories, how our zoo provides exceptional care, the science behind what we do, and more!

*This class takes place in the classroom.

Join our education staff for an afternoon of hands-on projects, themed tours, insider animal stories, engaging activities, and more, while you learn how the Rosamond Gifford Zoo provides exceptional care for all your favorite animals.

*This class involves walking on the zoo grounds.

Nature Journaling

Grown Ups (18+) only! | 10-11 a.m.

Interested in connecting with the natural world around you in a more meaningful way? This immersive program offers a peaceful, reflective space to observe and understand the animals and plants throughout the Zoo, as well as the native wildlife and plants in the surrounding environment. By tuning in to the beauty around you, you’ll strengthen your observation skills while also nurturing your emotional well-being. Through descriptive and creative writing, as well as art, you’ll express your thoughts and feelings, creating a personal nature journal that reflects and deepens your connection to the natural world.

For our after hours programs the zoo is closed and locked after the official drop off or pick up time. There is limited staff after hours and we are unable to accommodate late drop offs or early pickups after the scheduled drop off or pick up time.

If you or your child are enrolled and you must cancel for any reason, your registration fee is non-refundable unless someone on the waiting list can fill your space. In the event the cancelled space is filled, a 25% processing fee will be deducted from your refund.
