Proposed Aquarium Would Bring Conservation Education to a Broader Audience

Proposed Aquarium Would Bring Conservation Education to a Broader Audience

For more than 50 years, the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo has partnered with Rosamond Gifford Zoo to fulfill this Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA)-accredited institution’s mission. We share our sister organization’s focus on connecting people with the natural world by providing engaging guest experiences, exceptional animal care and unparalleled conservation education – inspiring generations of eager learners over the decades through the generous support of our donors, sponsors, members, and our community.

This is who we are.
This is what we do best for our community.
This is why we exist.

As a mission-driven organization, we facilitate and champion the vital work and achievements of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. We strive to expand our reach and impact to bring conservation education to a larger, broader, and more diverse audience. The proposed AZA-accredited aquarium - if approved - would expand our opportunities to fulfill this critical mission.

It is essential to continue to inspire our youth – and learners of all ages – to connect with nature, value wildlife, and empower them to help reshape our local and global environment.

We stated to the County Executive in December of last year, Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo is excited about his vision for an aquarium and poised to support every effort to bring conservation education to a larger and growing community.
