Penguin Coast

The Penguin Coast exhibit is home to our colony of Humboldt penguins, a species that hails from the Humboldt current off the coast of Peru and Chile. These birds are from a temperate climate, so they can tolerate our CNY winters as well as summer heat. Their large, deep and complex pool is heated in winter and cooled in summer to keep the water at their preferred temperature of 50 to 60 degrees F year-round. Penguin Coast is one of the best penguin exhibits in North America, with ample space and depth to allow our penguins to show off their super-fast swimming skills and even to "porpoise" in and out of the water when they get excited!
